Electric Flute Music for your Mind, Spirit, and Body
MAMBO BALAM is a new collection of music from Roberto Luz and Friends. This record was written for and played by some of the finest musicians around the lake. It was published in November of 2001. Jungle Bop

The music is very eclectic. You will float like a feather at one moment and find yourself charging across the sand on the back of a camel the next. The styles vary from trippy World jazz to concert rock to experimental blends of everything in between.

You can download "Weed" versions of some of the tunes. This allows you to listen to the tune three times for free, and then you can buy it.

1) Fluid Motion started with a drum track that  was turned around backwards to make the sound like water... The cymbals dont crash, they sizzle. Then I added the bass, Bruce did some guitar solo's and I finished it up with the flute lead, and some  steel drum  and keyboards to fill it out

2) La Cueva del Jaguar is a piece from the  group that we formed in feb, 2001 It talks about  life as a walk down a jungle glade and the moment of death as the test of the cave of the jaguar.

3) Volador was put together  by Roberto and Alvaro. Alvaro plays Guitar and bass, Davy is on drums, and Roberto plays flutes.

4) Mambo Balam (Cumbia Sampuesana) is a traditional Colombian cumbia, transformed into a cumbia reggae andino funk.

5) Procession  was written during a trip to Thailand and Bali and begins with a live recording of a procession in Penastanen, Bali. It is written in Balinese timing and will carry you off. Lots of surprizes, includes a piece with the flute solo turned backwards

6) Tweedle Dee: A mellow flute tune done with an acoustic guitar and flute

7) Good Morning features Davy on the Kalimba and hand drums... A happy tune for the morning.

8) El Viento is another of the "Rock band" pieces on the CD. It is a chant to the forces of the universe. It features the Tzam Chicham choir.

9) Salvia Divinorum is a totally psychedelic piece designed to make your mind crawl.

10) Horizon is another one of the Alvaro tunes. This one is a sweet Latin jazz piece that floats along.

11) Reunion  is a piece written to play with Cris and Laura. It features solo´s by both of them and some great wind section action.

12) Todo es Respiracion started with a rythmic section done with overdubbed nose and mouth sounds. A slick stadium  tune was played with  it and some ripping leads finished it off.

13) Donde Esta el Amor? Asks the age old question. It is a response to the vast quantities of bad rap in spanish. Fiery and electric.

14) Return to the East is based on the steel drum, played as a rhythm instrument. The tune is a truly worldwide sound, as influences from all over seem to leak in.

15) Suspiros is a breath of air at sunset, featuring Montse on vocals, a short farewell to leave you feeling sweet.
